Semester 3

For the third project we had to design a stand for the Maastricht Convention Bureau. This stand would represent them at the IMEX 2026 in Frankfurt. This time I took on the role of the scribe in my team. We started off super productive as a team but quickly issues among the group arose.

Our concept was to give the stand a rustic bar look, very reminiscent of traditional bars all over Limburg. We wanted to combine this with some more modern aspects, to represent the knowledge hubs located throughout Limburg. On our stand, the client would go from hub to hub, collecting stamps and information from the staff. To then at the end, be teleported to an old cafe. If all the stamps were collected by a client they would receive a free beverage of their choice. We had even planned to get local Limburg beer to be passed out to complete the whole vision. 

Our group fell apart when our team leader decided to leave the group 3 days before the deadline. It was a very stressful evening but I didn’t have time to panic. Because our other team leader was occupied at the time, I took over the responsibility of leader and made sure everything got done. Fortunately we were able to hand it in on time, made to the best of our abilities. 

This project did teach me a lot of stuff about working conventions and using storytelling to attract viewers. We unfortunately did not fully fulfill the vision the company had in mind, but I am still proud of our concept regardless. We asked AI to generate us an image of what the stand would have looked like (see above).

I will take what I learned in this semester with me into my last one. I hope to really get it right this time.
